Vintage Japan Travel Postcard – Natural Oak

The tori gate is waiting for you with this beautiful Japanese travel postcard.

These lovely postcards draw heavily from the art nouveau, art deco and modernism artistic styles of the fabulous travel poster era. Early 20th century travel posters were commissioned by railways and later airlines and provided companies with an opportunity to sell the wonders of overseas (and local) travel. They have a timelessness that will attract any traveller to their elegant style.

Each postcard is mounted with a custom cut Antiquarian cotton matboard and hand finished with a unique pen and ink embellishment. This style takes its inspiration from the French Matting style which began in the 16th century. I have tailored each design to reflect the colours and textures of the postcard’s art.

Outside frame measures 225mm x 275mm.

Finished in a simple natural oak frame with 2mm glass. Comes with a standback and a hanging option.
